Oral History

The Oral History Project was initiated in October 1984 by a long time member of the Baker-Cederberg Museum and Archives Committee, Dr. Paul Weld, MD. The idea came at the suggestion of Dr. Edward Atwater, MD who had initiated a similar project at the University of Rochester. Over these past twenty-five years, the project has yielded over 140 oral histories and is continuing its steady mission of chronicling the history of Rochester General Hospital.  The program recently celebrated its Twenty-Fifth Anniversary and was highlighted in the Society of American Archivists Oral History Newsletter Dialogue in August 2008.

The Baker-Cederberg Museum and Archives oral history committee has compiled two published collections of oral history summaries detailing the participants, key topics of discussion and names of other people mentioned in the interviews. These oral history summaries are a detailed listing of individual interviews containing general information, interview synopsis, and names mentioned.
