The spirit of volunteerism and giving is a long-standing tradition in our community. We are privileged to be assisted every day by dedicated volunteers who play a vital role in working directly with our patients as well as behind the scenes.
No healthcare facility can afford to operate without the support of volunteers. Newark-Wayne Community Hospital and DeMay Living Center volunteers are instrumental in the services provided by these facilities. In return, volunteers enjoy the opportunity to meet new people, to keep active, to reap the health benefits of volunteering and - perhaps most gratifying - to experience the personal satisfaction that comes from helping others.
Volunteers dedicate thousands of hours each year to make the hospital and living center a better place for patients and staff.
We sponsor a wide variety of volunteer areas including:
- Recycling
- Information Desk
- Patient Visitor
- Ranch House Greeter
- DeMay Escort
- Mulberry Gift Shop
- Patient Care Crew
- Pre-Admission Testing
- ED Support Team
- Sewing
- Pet Therapy
- Conversation Partner
- Joint Program Support Team
- SummerFest Health Fair
- ICU Patient Liaison
Numerous studies have shown that volunteering has a significant, positive impact on the physical and mental health of those who regularly donate their time.
If you are interested in helping others and reaping the health benefits as well, Newark-Wayne Community Hospital or DeMay Living Center may have the perfect position for you!
