Most of us don’t stop to think about the impact new advancements in medical care have on our daily lives—until we need them. Laser surgery is one of these innovations, allowing surgeons to use special, targeted light beams to perform procedures ranging from delicate plastic surgeries to potentially life-saving techniques.
These progressive improvements in many ways mirror the ongoing advances in laser surgery care offered at the Rochester Regional Laser Center. Our board-certified surgeons are continuously researching new laser applications in health care and use their expertise in clinical applications and education to advance the use of laser surgery for minimally invasive treatments.
Comprehensive Laser Surgery Treatment
New advances in laser surgery treatment technology continue to have a large impact on the capabilities and benefits of laser surgery. Our team is at the forefront of these improvements and collaborates with specialists in plastic surgery to provide the latest treatments for various skin disorders and conditions, such as laser scar removal.
Laser surgery treatments offer a valuable alternative to traditional surgical procedures and are particularly useful in treating skin lesions and scars on hard-to-reach areas such as the face, nose, lips and ears, as well as for removing multiple benign facial growths during a single treatment session.
Treatments
We use 24 state-of-the-art lasers, including the carbon dioxide laser, argon laser and Nd:YAG (neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet) laser, to offer the following laser surgery treatments:
- Laser tumor removal
- Reduce blood loss by sealing small blood vessels
- Reduce scars
- Reduce wrinkles and stretch marks
- Remove or reduce birthmarks
- Remove moles
- Remove skin lesions
- Remove or reduce tattoos
- Remove warts
- Seal lymph vessels to decrease swelling and the spread of tumor cells
The availability of multiple specific-wavelength lasers at the Laser Center allows us to provide better laser surgery treatment results than traditional “all in one” lasers and often reduces the number of treatments needed.
