As the leading nephrology unit in the region, Rochester Regional Health offers a full range of treatment options for patients with common kidney disorders as well as for those with acute and chronic kidney failure. We are committed to providing you with access to innovative care and continually integrating the latest diagnostic and therapeutic protocols proven to improve patient outcomes.
We work closely with each patient, your family, and your primary physician to determine the most effective and appropriate care to suit your specific condition. Our team provides comprehensive consultation, diagnostics, and treatment to both outpatients and inpatients:
Outpatients are generally referred to us directly from primary-care physicians or other hospitals. We offer patient consultations five days per week. During your initial consultation, your nephrologist will evaluate your symptoms and order laboratory tests. (What to Expect). Upon diagnosis, your nephrologist will provide a clear explanation of your condition and discuss treatment options with you. During your treatment phase, your nephrologist will communicate with your referring physician to ensure continuity in your care.
Our six-station inpatient area provides dialysis treatment for patients admitted to RGH. Portable equipment is also available to provide bedside care for patients in the intensive care units and others who are unable to be transported to the inpatient dialysis unit. After your discharge, your nephrologist will provide follow-up care and assist you and your primary physician with the ongoing management of your kidney disorder.
We are proud to be the Greater Rochester region's first provider of Home Hemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis. We offer several at-home methods that are safe, easy to learn, and more effective in getting blood clean. Our compassionate, highly skilled healthcare professionals provide training and support to help you make the switch to home-based treatments with confidence. At-home therapies are supported by a team of board-certified nephrologists, registered nurses, technicians, social workers, dieticians, and other team members dedicated to your care and comfort.
