About Rochester General Hospital

Rochester General Hospital is a 528-bed tertiary care hospital that has been serving the residents of the Rochester Region and beyond since 1847. Rochester General Hospital offers primary medical care and a broad range of specialties. Rochester General Hospital’s medical staff includes over 1,000 primary care physicians and specialists, many of whom have offices at the hospital and throughout the community.

Parking

Visitor parking is available in both the Portland Avenue and Carter Street ramp garages. For appointments in the Rochester General Hospital Medical Office Building (1415 Portland), the Carter Street garage is more convenient.

Those who are visiting the Parnall Building (1445 Portland) should park in the Portland Avenue garage.

Valet Parking

Rochester General Hospital offers valet parking services at the hospital’s Main Entrance (Polisseni Pavilion), weekdays from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm; and at the Medical Office Building Entrance (1415 Portland Ave.), weekdays from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. The cost of this convenient service is $7.00, which includes the parking fee. Some medical office suites and departments offer discounted valet services. Please check with the receptionist or office staff for details.

To pick up your vehicle, return to where you dropped it off or call ahead to the valet before leaving your destination to receive curbside service. Reach the valet at extension 2-3748 or (585) 922-3748 from off-campus. After 6 pm, please contact Safety and Security at extension 2-4300 or (585) 922-4300 to retrieve your car.

Inpatient Food Options

For patients admitted to the hospital, we offer a pre-selected menu featuring a special each meal. These menus are posted for the week in your room. If the Special does not meet your needs, there are alternate choices that you may select. We also offer Kosher and Vegetarian menus to patients on request. A clinical Dietitian is available to address your nutritional needs. For these services, call 24504 (inside the hospital) or (585) 922-4504 (outside the hospital).

Language Assistance & Interpreter Services

Effective communication between patients, their authorized representatives, and their healthcare providers is vital to achieving access to quality care and ensuring good health outcomes.

To ensure that persons with Limited English Proficiency (LEP), those who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, and those who are blind or visually impaired have meaningful access and equal opportunity to healthcare services, programs and information, Rochester Regional Health provides comprehensive language interpreting services that are available within a reasonable period of time and at no cost to the individual or to their authorized representatives.

Non-English Speaking Patients

In-house Spanish Interpreters are available at RGH Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 6:30 pm. We will coordinate the services of a professional interpreter (Spanish or other languages) for all in-person interpretation needs.

Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing Patients

American Sign Language Interpreters are on-call and available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Blind or Visually Impaired Patients

Recorder (Linear PCM) devices are available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Spiritual Care

Rochester General Hospital employs a team of professional staff chaplains and hosts a nationally accredited Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program.

As spiritual care providers in a clinical setting, our chaplains help advocate a holistic concept of health. Modern medical care recognizes the integration of a person’s spiritual, emotional and physical well-being. These elements are interdependent dimensions both in health and in illness. We proudly provide our services not only to our patients and visitors but also to our staff.
