Rochester Regional Health is honored to partner with the American Heart Association for the 2024 Rochester Heart Walk & Run, which brings thousands of people together to raise funds for heart health, research, and other ways to live fierce and be relentless.

The event this year marks the American Heart Association’s 100th anniversary and will be held June 6 at the Monroe Community College campus in Brighton. Registration begins at 5pm and opening ceremonies begin at 6pm, with the walk beginning at 6:15pm.

Championing healthy hearts

The Heart Walk & Run is an opportunity for people living in the Rochester community to meet up with friends and family members and engage in physical activity while raising money for heart research and supporting a wonderful cause.

As a partner for the Heart Walk & Run, Rochester Regional Health has raised more than $300,000 since 2017. This helps the American Heart Association with its ongoing heart research, which has funded more than $5 billion in research since 1949.

“We are incredibly grateful for Rochester Regional Health's efforts to move the needle when it comes to heart disease and stroke,” said Megan Vargulick, Executive Director for the American Heart Association in Rochester. “With the Rochester Heart Walk & Run, we are able to drive maximum impact through community engagement and fundraising. Together, we can save lives right here in Rochester.”

From prevention to diagnosis, treatment, and recovery, the Sands-Constellation Heart Institute at Rochester Regional Health offers a range of therapies and treatment options for heart disease and a range of other heart-related conditions. With nationally recognized expertise brought to personalized care plans, our providers care for our patients like family.

“It has been a true honor to chair this year’s Heart Walk & Run, and I am thrilled at Rochester Regional Health’s’ commitment not only to our patients but to its growing partnership with the American Heart Association,” said Scott Feitell, DO, Chair of the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk & Run and Director of Heart Failure and the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit with Rochester Regional Health. “There is much work to be done in this space, including hands on CPR training, raising funds for research to improve outcomes for heart attacks and strokes, and provide blood pressure and health screenings in the community. Rochester Regional Health is committed to eliminating health care disparities in our region, and our partnership with the American Heart Association will facilitate this mission.”
