About The Provider
Dr. Petraglia specializes in all aspects of spine and brain surgery. He has extensive subspecialty experience in sports-related neurologic injuries.
He holds a B.A. in Biology with Neuroscience Specialization (Honors) and earned his medical degree at the University of Rochester (with Distinctions in Research and Community Service). He did his residency in Neurosurgery at the university as well. His Fellowships in Neurological Sports Medicine were completed at the West Virginia University Department of Neurosurgery and the Northshore University Health System Department of Neurosurgery.
He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society and Alpha Omega Alpha.
Dr. Petraglia’s honors include Outstanding Academic Achievement Award from the University of Rochester, Department of Neurosurgery (every year from 2010 to 2014); First Place Trauma and Critical Care Eposter and DePuy Synthes Resident Craniofacial Award at the AANS Annual Meeting (2014); Marquis Who’s Who in America (2013); Marquis Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare (2011 – 2012); Best Basic Science Poster at the 4th Annual Neurology and Neurosurgery Resident and Fellow Research Symposium (2009) and many others.
Dr. Petraglia recently published the Handbook of Neurological Sports Medicine: Concussion and Other Nervous System Injuries in the Athlete (with co-authors Julian Bailes, M.D. and Arthur Day, M.D.).
He has written extensively, authoring multiple book chapters and articles.
