General Content
At Rochester General Hospital's Center for Clinical Research, our knowledgeable team is passionately committed to offering treatment alternatives to the community and Investigators through research. Medical clinical research is one way that new treatments for diseases are found, and we are honored to be part of that mission.
Our team is committed to bringing opportunities and choices to the community to advance the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease states, and to help patients play a more hopeful, active role in their care. We have a patient-centered focus that uses education to encourage patients to question and understand their options, so they are best able to make an informed decision about participation in a clinical trial.
We are a service-oriented resource for Investigators, who can benefit directly or through contract from our expertise in running major sponsored medical/clinical trials for drug, device, and biologics, in areas such as Cardiology, Acute Care and Gastrointestinal (GI).
We are a hands-on team who take a trial from start to finish, from desk to Operating Room, to provide contract and budget negotiations, simplify complex protocol language into a 'layman's' informed consent and work with the Sponsor and staff across a variety of disciplines to coordinate, provide education on, execute, maintain and terminate a clinical trial. Our Critical Care Nurse Practitioner, RN/BSNs, and CNA schedule and conduct patient visits per protocol, gather and input data into Sponsor-specific clinical trial data systems, and respond to Sponsor queries, visits, and audits. We work closely with the Rochester Regional Health Clinical Investigations Committee to maintain both patients' rights, as well as FDA-regulated compliance with clinical research trials.
Our areas of research have included:
Research patients are generally those who seek to prevent a condition, improve a condition, or keep a condition from worsening. As a research patient, we partner with you, as well as a team of dedicated healthcare professionals, to achieve the goal of safely shepherding you through a trial. It is our most profound belief that patients should and must have opportunities to be proactive, empowered and hopeful as they seek optimal health.
For many, participation in a clinical trial means searching for options to benefit health status. However, we also recognize that human beings are made of much more than their physical body and disease states. The very personal decision to participate in research and contribute to the advancement of medicine to benefit others is also something we see. This is something we never take for granted and fully appreciate.
