United Memorial Medical Center Sleep Disorders Center

For millions of people, sleep disorders are highly common medical issues that can be potentially life-altering or life-threatening. At Rochester Regional Health's United Memorial Sleep Lab, we can help you work towards a restful sleep pattern and a healthier life.

Comprehensive Sleep Services

In partnership with the Sleep & Wellness Centers, the United Memorial Sleep Center provides our community with a state-of-the-art and comprehensive sleep lab. The services we provide utilize sophisticated diagnostic tests to find what ailments, conditions or practices may be affecting your sleep. This comprehensive service is another way we're meeting our patients' needs and providing innovative, quality care right at home.

We treat all of the 88 defined sleep disorders, with sleep apnea being one of the most common. It is characterized by pauses in or shallow breathing during sleep and frequently indicates that the airway has collapsed or is blocked. It is a condition that is frequently overlooked during office visits and usually witnessed by your sleep partner. Symptoms can include:

  • Snoring loudly
  • Having difficulty falling asleep
  • Waking up exhausted
  • Daytime fatigue
  • Morning headaches, irritability, depression, and forgetfulness
  • A history of stroke, heart disease, heartburn/reflux, diabetes, obesity or high blood pressure
  • Witnessed apneas/irregular breathing
  • Impaired concentration
  • Impaired memory
  • Morning headaches
  • Depression
Other common sleep disorders include insomnia, fibromyalgia, restless leg syndrome, and narcolepsy.

Our compassionate and multi-disciplinary sleep care team is highly skilled and experienced. Collectively they work to provide quality outcomes to restore your sleep to a normal, restful and healthy part of your daily life. Our team includes the following:

  • Experienced physicians
  • Registered sleep technicians
  • Diagnostic consultants
  • Administrative support services staff

These professionals are instrumental in conducting your sleep test, scoring the results and preparing the appropriate treatment and follow-up for your condition.

State-of-the-art technology and facilities

All of our sleep studies are painless tests conducted in our hotel-like facilities that feature clean, comfortable rooms that are tailored to ensure you have a pleasant stay.

The tests monitor various body functions to determine the cause of your sleep problems. To do this, we use the latest in diagnostic, recording and treatment equipment. This includes Alice Sleepware Software and Respironics Omni Labs machines that provide multiple options for positive airway treatments. Depending on a patient's needs, these treatments can use equipment such as CPap, BiPap, BiPap S/V and BiPap ASV.
