Some people experience depression that doesn't improve, even with treatment. This is called treatment-resistant depression, and its symptoms can range from mild to severe. The Rochester Regional Health Psychiatric Therapeutics Program offers NeuroStar Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), a non-invasive form of brain stimulation that uses magnetic fields to stimulate the nerve cells in your brain to improve the symptoms of treatment-resistant depression.
TMS has helped 50% - 60% of people with treatment-resistant depression, and nearly one-third of these people have experienced a full remission.
