Key Takeaways

  • Our new virtual OB/GYN urgent care allows patients to find specialized treatment at their convenience.
  • Patients can see a provider virtually for either gynecologic and pregnancy-related health concerns.
  • If a follow-up is needed, medical assistant coordinators help patients transition to in-person OB/GYN or urgent care locations for further testing or treatment.
OB/GYN Urgent Care on Your Schedule
If you are looking for a way to visit an OB/GYN provider without going to an office, start a virtual visit with our virtual OB/GYN urgent care. Our specialized OB/GYN provider can help you with a number of different conditions and concerns.

For situations where you may need to see an OB/GYN provider but are unable to meet with one in person, Rochester Regional Health is offering a new healthcare option.

Our virtual OB/GYN urgent care service makes it more convenient to seek specialized OB/GYN care, whether you’re at home, work, or anywhere in between.

Patients ages 18 and older in New York state are able to log onto the Rochester Regional Health website or use MyCare and have direct access to one of our virtual OB/GYN urgent care providers. Patients can select a virtual OB/GYN urgent care visit, then type in their symptoms or health conditions so the provider is prepared ahead of time and has as much information as possible going into the visit.

“It’s very simple,” said Rachel Houghtling, PA-C, who serves as a virtual OB/GYN urgent care provider with Rochester Regional Health. “They log on, and we have a provider available to them to see them for the concern they have.”

Why to choose virtual OB/GYN urgent care

Our OB/GYN virtual urgent care service gives you the specialized care you need on your schedule. Virtual OB/GYN urgent care providers are also trained to treat and answer questions for pregnant patients.

“For pregnant patients, this allows them to talk with someone who is trained in the care and management of more acute obstetrical conditions, and can understand their pregnancy and how it might impact how they care for the condition they’re treating,” Houghtling said.

Virtual visits can address many OB/GYN symptoms or concerns, such as STD screenings, bacterial vaginosis, vaginal discharge or yeast infection, cold sores, contraception, period changes, vaginal discharge, and more.

Pregnant patients can receive care for morning sickness, seasonal allergies, upper respiratory viruses, UTIs, and other conditions from a provider who takes their pregnancy into consideration when it comes to diagnosis and treatment.

If a patient needs to have an in-person follow-up after the virtual visit, we partner with our OB/GYN practices, urgent cares, and lab locations to meet any testing or additional care needs.

A medical assistant coordinator will work with current patients to make their transition from virtual urgent care to in person needs as easy as possible.

“Virtual OB/GYN urgent care works with people’s lifestyles, giving them less time to wait, more convenience and flexibility, and the knowledge that the provider they are seeing is specialized in treating OB/GYN conditions with a level of expertise they can trust,” Houghtling said.

“Some patients who were hesitant about virtual OB/GYN urgent care at first realized how convenient it is and that their virtual visit wasn’t much different from going into an office. They are appreciative that the appointment didn’t impact their life of having to go through so many steps to be seen.”
