St. Lawrence Health (SLH) President David Acker announced Monday, February 28, 2022, that Jeremy Slaga, Esq, has been appointed as the new President of Gouverneur Hospital.
Mr. Slaga will continue to serve in his current role as SLH Chief Administrative Officer, and SLH internal advisor on all legal, government, and accreditation affairs.
Background
Mr. Slaga joined SLH in 2019 from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Pinnacle, where he was the Associate Vice President of Development, Operations, and Strategy. He brings 16 years of healthcare-related legal counsel knowledge, and broad experience in the systemization of hospitals.
Mr. Slaga holds a Juris Doctor Degree from Suffolk University Law School, a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Florida State University, and has achieved Bar status through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
As Mr. Slaga takes over the helm in Gouverneur, many of the staff will be familiar to him, and he to them. He provided support to Interim President Donna McGregor when she stepped into the role in July 2021, and over the past several months has spent countless days working onsite at the Hospital. Since Ms. McGregor took the lead at Gouverneur Hospital, the Hospital: received a 2021 Top Rural Hospital award from The Leapfrog Group for patient safety, was a Golden Sponsor of Gouverneur’s Light Up Our Village event, implemented the use of the UltraSnap© and Hygiena© luminometer devices for surface testing, and acquired an ultraviolet disinfection system.

SLH is pleased to make this permanent appointment and for Mr. Slaga to continue working with the Gouverneur Hospital medical staff, employees, Board of Directors, and the local community to build upon the established partnerships that already have a strong and solid foundation. He looks forward to advancing services to meet community need and assisting the Hospital in its future growth.

This announcement comes just two months ahead of St. Lawrence Health’s launch of Epic, the Nation’s most widely-used and comprehensive health records system, and a product of the health system’s recent affiliation with Rochester Regional Health.
